Nancy O'Dell's debut work in the industry of broadcast was as a reporter/anchor for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She worked later as an anchor for morning news for WCBD TV and was a crime reporter. Her articles from Charleston, about how the Charleston police acted in DUI cases with care, caused an investigation by State Law Enforcement Division. This investigation led to a more strict directive for state authorities. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Media Award South Carolina by the Associated Press.
